SPIRITUAL RENEWAL BOOKS

                         by Susan Blum Gerding, Ed.D.

This series of books was initially written as follow-up manuals for  various Isaiah Parish Missions, with chapters corresponding to the sessions of the mission. Some also offer Facilitator's Guides and Videotapes as supportive materials.

     These books may be used very successfully,though, as a resource for adult education discussion groups or independent adult religious education studies.

     All include Scripture, prayer, discussion, sound Catholic theology, reflection questions, activities, homework assignments, and thought-provoking quotations.

"A new generation of builders is needed . Moved not by fear or violence, but by the urgency of genuine love, they must learn to build, brick by brick, the City of God.  Christ alone is the cornerstone on which it is is possible to solidly build one's existence."         Pope John Paul Il

 Christ the Cornerstone:Christians Coping in a world of Chaos and Confusion (Building The Kingdom Mission)is designed to help Christians cope in a rapidly changing world of chaos and confusion. Against the backdrop of the September 11 attacks, the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church, and a crumbling economy and crumbling corporate ethics, a reasoned four-point formula is provided to alleviate fear, encourage "normalcy," and assure a solid pastoral and theological foundation.  This same four-part formula remains current in the rapid changes of the 21st Century:

1) Name the Feelings;      2) Address Stumbling Blocks;

3) God's Healing Power; and

4) Instruments of Change.
